We picked Mom up from the Amsterdam airport on our way home from our visit with Jared and Annie in Amsterdam. She came home to Belgium with us and spent a few days exploring more of Belgium since she was not able to do as much of that the first time she visited. She arrived on Ascension day, a national holiday in Belgium, meaning not much is open. We had fish tacos for lunch at our favorite fish n chips place and walked around the city. We had homemade pizza for dinner so Mom could take it easy after the long flight.

Finding out she is going to be a Grandma! |
On Friday morning we got up and headed to Brugge. Mom had some catching up to do on the top sights of Belgium. We did the Rick Steve's walking tour and enjoyed lunch at the Halve Maan brewery. We took a long walk through the park surrounding Brugge before heading back to Antwerp. We had dinner out at one of our favorites to celebrate mom's birthday and Mother's Day, a little belatedly.

A day in Brugge |
On Saturday, we headed to Namur, a city in the south of Belgium. Once there, we picked up rental bikes and rode along the river to another Belgian city, Dinant. It was about a 30 km ride and it was one of the nicest, yet hottest days of the year! We arrived in Dinant, pretty exhausted and had a pizza for lunch before walking around a bit and riding back to Namur. It was a really beautiful and relatively flat bike ride. I would say it was easy, but the wind made it really difficult on the first part of the journey! It was a great way to see the south of Belgium and experience a very Belgian pastime of bicycle riding.

On the bike ride |
On Sunday we took it easy around the city and prepped for our trip to Crete, leaving the next day! It was really nice to have Mom in Belgium for a few days to explore and experience where we live, since she wasn't able to do that as much before.
