Week 13 July 7-12

We had our second visitor this weekend!!!  Victoria came to the Netherlands for a week for work, and we picked her up on Friday for a weekend in Antwerp with us.  We met her in Hengelo, Netherlands and had a lovely Italian dinner.  Everyone but Molly had the spaghetti parmesan, a pasta dish that was flambeed in a GIANT Parmesan cheese wheel.  We decided it was like mac and cheese for adults, and it was delicious.

On Saturday, we toured Antwerp and showed Victoria the sites.  We happened upon ANOTHER festival called Vlaanderen Feest.  They had many musical acts and of course beer!  We visited at least 4 chocolate shops and ate waffles and frites... basically all the fun Belgian activities!

Sunday, we headed to Dusseldorf, Germany to drop Victoria at the train station for her journey to Frankfurt for another week of work.  But of course, we didn't just drop her off, we had to explore a little too.  It was a pretty rainy and dreary day but we were able to see the "old town" and a French street festival.  That's right, a French festival in Germany.  We stopped at a German restaurant for lunch.  Victoria and Tyler had sausage and sauerkraut, while Molly had Goulash.  Naturally, we had to try the local beer brewed in Dusseldorf as well.  We were excited to try German food and drink but we decide it's good we don't live there and have the opportunity to eat those hearty offerings everyday!  On our walk back to the car, we came across the filming for a movie.  It appeared they were filming street scenes because there were tons of extras , including cars, just standing in various spots on the sidewalks and on streets.  They would yell action, and then everyone would start walking until a certain point, and then they would stop and get back into position to start all over again.
